Lewis Dewayne “Plute” Ladd, 77, of Lake City passed from this life on Thursday July 28, 2016 at the N.E.A. Baptist Hospital. He was born in Lake City, Arkansas on April 27, 1939 to the late Lewis Herschel and Sarah Ellen Qualls Ladd. He lived most of his life in Lake City and is a graduate of the Lake City High School.
He moved to Wilmington, California in 1957 and worked for Bekins Van Lines, for 10 years, before returning to Arkansas. Plute was employed 17 years at Martin Sprocket and Gear then after retirement he worked with Danny Qualls of Lake City. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City, loved trucking, farming and was a lifelong avid L.A. Dodgers Baseball Fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Carl Dean and Charles Edward Ladd.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mary Cothern Ladd.
Son; John Ladd of North Little Rock.
Daughter; Suzie Pilcher of Lake City.
Brothers, Jim Ladd of Lake City, Don Ladd (Paula) of Abilene, Kansas.
Sisters, Sue Owens (Larry) and Gin Wimberley (Lynn) all of Jonesboro.
Grandson, Matthew Pilcher of Lake City.
Several nephews, nieces and many cousins he valued so dearly.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday July 30, 2016 in Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Ron Langston and Greg Rainwater officiating. Burial will be in Pine Log Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Saturday.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Ladd, Steve Owens, Aaron Owens, Neal Wimberley, Lee Wimberley and Jon Milligan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Treadway, Larry Ladd, Danny Qualls, Ronnie Qualls, Jim Robertson, Larry Ryan, Ralph Ruby, Jake Gilley and Friends at Jordan’s Quick Shop.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1900 Broadmoor Jonesboro, Arkansas or the Arkansas Home Health, 501 Hwy 463 N Trumann, Arkansas.
