Lewis Cravens

January 16, 1937 — February 20, 2025

Lewis Cravens, age 88, left this life peacefully surrounded by his wife, son and daughter-in-law at his home on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Lewis was the third child born to August and Rilla Mae (Jones) Cravens on January 16, 1937.

He lived life to the fullest. He graduated from Newport High School in 1955. Lewis enjoyed his times at the lake, camping and watersports. He loved duck hunting especially in the Cache River bottoms, which reminded him of his early times with his Daddy and many other family members.

Lewis spent most of his adult life doing construction in the U.S. and abroad. He was a member of the 39th Infantry Division of the Arkansas National Guard for 8 years and 8 months. He loved watching Arkansas Razorback sports. Lewis was also an avid animal lover and an active member of Valley View Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an older brother August Edwin (Bub) Cravens, a sister Betty Gardner, an infant sibling and many beloved animal companions.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anna Rae (Mooney) Cravens, son Brooks Cravens (Jill), one grandson Landon Crews, one nephew Price Gardner of Little Rock, and two nieces Lisa Ring of Little Rock and Lisa Mooney of Jonesboro.

Special thanks to Dierksen Hospice, especially Ashley, Stacey and Callie.

Visitation will be at Emerson Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 5:00-7:00PM, with private family service at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Paragould Children’s Home or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
