Lester Watkins

Lester Watkins, 87, a lifetime resident of Cash, died Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at his home. He was born on August 23, 1938, at the family home. He was a member of the Cash Baptist Church. Lester was one of the original members of the Cash Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Master Mason and was very active during his younger years in the Lodge. He enjoyed quail hunting and always loved his hunting dogs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Virginia Watkins, of the home; son, Morris Watkins and wife Lisa of Cash; daughter, Lesnia DeGood of Jonesboro; 4 grandchildren, Andrew, Eric, Jared, Rachel; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 9, 2026, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Terry Simmons and Danny Russell officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Worley Cemetery with Andrew Watkins, Eric Watkins, Jared DeGood, Mike Hawkins, Warren Coots, Fred Herring, and Dr. Rick Tate serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Scott, Greg Puckett, Mike Mahan, Robert Jones, Greg Dulaney, and George Smith. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time.
