Lester Burnett Merrick

Lester Burnett “LB” Merrick, 88, of Paragould, formerly of Russellville passed from this life Monday, December 26, 2022 at his residence. He was born to the late Lester B. and Lorena Merrick In Russellville on July 17, 1934.

LB has resided in northeast Arkansas for the past four years after coming from Russellville. He is a United States Army veteran and was also a Mason. LB and his wife Joyce were members of the Russellville square dancing club.  LB loved to hunt and fish in his earlier years and spend time outdoors in his garden. LB had 30 years of service as a schoolteacher. He started his teaching career in Pottsville as a Mathematics teacher and eventually moved to the Russellville School District where he remained throughout his career. Most of all LB loved spending time with two grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and step- father, Sam Griffith, LB is preceded in death by his Wife of 55 years, Joyce Merrick; and sister, Beverly Merrick.

LB is survived by his son, Les Merrick; and two grandchildren, Leah (Travis) Pierce and Luke Merrick all of Jonesboro.

A visitation will be from 2-3:30 pm Friday at Emerson Funeral Home.
