Leroy “Jabo” Green, 68, of Jonesboro died Monday at his home. He was a member of Magnolia Road Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver of 35 years. He was also a Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Green, of the home; three sons, Bobby Green of El Dorado, Bruce Carpenter of Spearsville, Louisiana, and Ricky Carpenter of Jonesboro; seven daughters, Bernice Porter of El Dorado, Mary Dulaney of Jonesboro, Rebecca Carpenter of Jonesboro, Donna Jones of Jonesboro, Debbie McCullar of Heber Springs, Janet Davis and Joan Dorris, both of Jonesboro; two sisters, Dora Hawes of Harrisburg and Louise Beard of Weiner; 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Swindle and Raymond Swindle; stepfather, Cletis Swindle; and nephew Bryan Hawes.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Emil Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery near Greenfield with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday night at Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Swindle, Chuck Miller, CJ Lytel, Mark Rusher, Bryan Rusher, and Nick Gann. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Peace, Jim Hilderbran and Daniel Hilderbran.
Those wishing to leave lasting memorials are asked to consider Arkansas Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
