Leotha "Memaw" Kersey

Leotha “Memaw” Kersey, 89, of Jonesboro passed from this life Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born on March 9, 1926 in Neelyville, MO to the late Owen Columbus and Lucille Jones.

She lived most of her life in Jonesboro where she was also a long time member of the Washington Ave. Church of Christ. Leotha was an avid gardener who loved vegetables as well as flowers. Leotha was such a good cook and also enjoyed canning foods, and was known for her coconut cream pies. She also enjoyed spending her time outdoors. Leotha loved going to the lake and beach. She was a very caring person and especially towards cats, she would take in any stray cat who she felt needed a home. Most of all Leotha was a very giving and loving person to all and will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
In a addition to her parents, Leotha was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles Kersey; son: Bill Kersey; sister: Lillian Kersey; two brothers: Jim Jones and Eugene Jones; and one grandson: Darrell Ray Kersey Jr...

Leotha was survived by her two sons; Darrell Kersey of Greers Ferry and Jerry (Edna) Kersey of Jonesboro; one daughter: Annetta Sharp of Cherokee Village; ten grandchildren: Debra Walker, Durane Walters, Angee Jones, Seani Gibson, Charlie Kersey, Jarrod Kersey, Jeremy Kersey, Autumn Kersey, Joshua Kersey, and LaNissa Clegg ;twenty-four great grandchildren: Jessica Nguyen, Matt Walker, Kelley Walters, Tabitha Addison, Allison Walters, Lauren Jones, Caitlin Jones, Alyssa Jones, Melanie Jones, Madison Jones, Ashton Gibson, Hannah Gibson, Mallie Gibson, Adria Pettigrew, Olivia Kersey, Jonas Kersey, Clayton Kersey, Sarah Thetford, Maggie Thetford, Elizabeth Thetford, Karleigh Armstrong, Lily Armstrong, Jacob Clegg, and Ryan Clegg; and six great great grandchildren: Willa Nguyen, Emma Nguyen, KJ Addison, Avery Addison, Benjamin Walters, Kennedy Pettigrew.

Visitation will be from 1-2 pm Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Washington Avenue Church of Christ prior to the service.

A funeral service will be at 2 pm Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Washington Avenue Church of Christ with Kenneth Gossett officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery and active pallbearers will include: Jarrod Kersey, Kelley Thomas Walters, Matthew Walker, Charlie Kersey, Jonas Kersey, Clayton Kersey, Keith Summers, and Josh Kersey.
