Leon Edrington, 86, of Jonesboro died Wednesday May 1, 2013 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
He was born in Monette on May 8, 1926 to Otto and Ruby Collins Edrington. He lived in Jonesboro for 19 years, moving here from Grand Rapids, Michigan where he lived for 54 years.
Leon was an Expediter in a packaging corporation and a member of the Windover Baptist Church where he enjoyed going every Sunday rain shine or snow.
He cooked every week for the brotherhood breakfast. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and also breaking in horses. In his early adulthood he loved to go bowling, leatherwork and wood work. He was like a grandpa to all his nieces and nephew. Leon was preceded in death by his parents.
Survived by his loving wife M. Winona Edrington of the home.
Son; Michael and his wife Kathleen.
Brothers; Llewellen and wife Euna Mae Franks and Greg Edrington.
Sisters; Dallas Edrington and Betty Ann Franks.
Grandson; Michael and his wife Andrea Edrington Jr., Granddaughter; Cherise Paula Vellozo.And was expecting a great grandchild in December.
Also his brothers and sisters in Christ at the Windover Baptist Church and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday May 3, 2013 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Winford Bridges officiating. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Friday May 3, at Emerson Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Windover Baptist Church Sunday School Class.
