Lelen (Sonny) Douglas

Lelen “Sonny” Douglas, 76 of Jonesboro, died Thursday Aug 21, 2008 at his home.

He was born in Cherry Valley and had lived in Jonesboro his lifetime. He was the owner and operator of Douglas Construction, and of the Church of Christ belief. He was an Army National Guard veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty D. Douglas, his parents Walter and Roxie Foust Douglas, two sisters, Grace Dorton and Juanita Dobbs, one brother William (Dobin) Douglas, and one great granddaughter, Akjah Angel.

He is survived by three sons, Terry Douglas and wife Lucy of Bryan, Texas. Tommy Douglas of Jonesboro. Farley Douglas and wife Jo of Jonesboro.

Three daughters, Melody Douglas of Jonesboro. Susan Renner and husband James of Mountain Home. Kim Corder and husband Mike of Bono.

Three brothers, W.G. Douglas of Sedgwick. John Douglas of Piggott. Robert Douglas of Jonesboro.

Three sisters, Veta Mae Meurer of Bono. Jeanie Phelps of Salem, Arkansas. Maxine Rose of Walnut Ridge.

Fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday in Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Kenneth Gossett officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Bono, with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

A military honor guard will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Morris Gilliam, Elwood Freeman, Dan Melton, Clifton Britton, Louis Emerson, Kenneth Pinchback, Jim Vaughn, Bobby Pope and Herbert Whittingham

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. Saturday August 23, 2008 at Emerson Funeral Home.
