Lee Hummelstein

March 14, 1919 — March 25, 2006

Lee Hummelstein, 87 of Jonesboro died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at his home. He was born to Onita and Abe Hummelstein, March 14, 1919. He was the Chairman of the board at Hummelstein Iron and Metal. He served in WWII in the U.S. Navy.

He lived in Jonesboro all of his life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a past board member of the church. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, City Water & Light board, a board member of City Youth, Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, and an avid supporter of Jonesboro’s new transportation system.

Lee was active in the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries and his son Sam, will accept a life time achievement award on Lee’s behalf on April 4, 2006 at the Association Annual meeting.

Son & Daughter-in-law Sam & Marilyn Hummelstein, Jonesboro

Daughters and Son-in-law LeeAnn & John Sloan, Jonesboro Vicki Hummelstein, Jonesboro

Brother Lou Hummelstein, Scottsdale, Arizona

Sister Molly Rappaport, St. Louis, Missouri

Grandchildren Matthew Sloan and Nicole T Sloan, both of Jonesboro

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday March 28, 2006 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Emil Williams and Rev. Carlton Cross officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearers are the Friendship Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church, CW&L Board members, Employees of Hummelstein Iron and Metal, a member of Kiwanis Club of Jonesboro, Dr. Ben Owens Jr., Dr. Bob Warner, and Supporters of the Public Transportation board. Burial will be private.

For lasting memorials, the family request you please consider First United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 801 S. Main, Jonesboro, Arkansas, 72401. St. Bernards Development Foundation, 915 Wilkins, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401. or a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 Monday at Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
