Ledrew "Drew" Rudkin

November 7, 1932 — October 26, 2022

LeDrew “Drew” Rudkin, 89, dedicated husband, father of three, grandfather of five and great-grandfather to ten soon to be eleven, departed life in this temporary world into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at St. Bernard’s Medical Center just shy of his 90th birthday.  He was a beloved son, husband, brother, daddy, pepaw, nephew, cousin, and uncle.  All who knew and loved him were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Drew during his 89 years. He was born November 7, 1932, in Houston, Arkansas to Carl and Gertie Rudkin.  Drew grew up in Central Arkansas and the bootheel of Missouri.  He graduated from Bragg City High School in 1950 before joining the United States Army serving during the Korean War.  After being discharged from the service, Drew married the love of his life, Dean Morgan in 1955.  He began his thirty-four-year career as a senior field engineer for Burroughs Corporation/Unisys in Memphis, Tennessee before being transferred to Jonesboro in 1964.  Drew was a loving, devoted family man and was a self-proclaimed homebody who enjoyed the simple things in life - family, friends, baseball, and watching television.  After retiring in 1991, he was active for a number of years in the American Legion Post 21 in Jonesboro where he served as treasurer, legion baseball chairman and numerous other positions.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherma Rudkin: his sister, Carlene Henegar; sister-in-laws Mary Cox and Esther McClanahan; his brother, Carthyl Rudkin and brother-in-law David McClanahan.

LeDrew is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dean Rudkin of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Terry Glasgow of Jonesboro; his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Tracey Rudkin of McDonough, Georgia; his sister, Gretchen Rudkin of Pelham, Alabama;  his sister-in-law, Ganell Rudkin of Gautier, Mississippi; grandchildren, Bron Glasgow (Meriden) of Batesville, Arkansas; Tracie Fletcher (Clayton) and Morgan Wilson (Jonathan) of Jonesboro, Chase Rudkin (Courtney) and Caden Rudkin of McDonough;  great-grandchildren, Mason Fletcher of College Station, Texas;  Aristyn Glasgow of Conway, Arkansas; Maddax Fletcher (Emily) of Ft. Lee, Virginia; Brecken Glasgow and Cale Glasgow of Batesville; Camdan Wilson, Merrick Fletcher, Cashtan Wilson, Cate Wilson and Isac Compton of Jonesboro; his daughter, Sherma’s companion, Rick Hopkins, a precious aunt, Louise Edmondson of North Little Rock and numerous treasured cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.

A special thank you to Dr. Michael Isaacson, Joyce Files; neighbors, Harold and Wanda Ferguson, Gary and Sara Gann, and Jack and Susan Jacobs for their incredible and loving support.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and their spouses, Bron Glasgow, Meriden Glasgow, Chase Rudkin, Caden Rudkin, Tracie Fletcher, Clayton Fletcher, Morgan Wilson and Jonathan Wilson.

A celebration of Drew’s life will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, October 29th at the First Community Bank community room, 630 Southwest Drive in Jonesboro. Under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home. A time of fellowship and remembrance to follow.
