Leda Roberta Southard, 86, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Born in Marshall, Leda lived most of her life in the Bay and Trumann area before moving to Jonesboro in 2002. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God in Jonesboro. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed traveling and shopping.
Leda went to St. Bernard’s Senior Life Center most every day and enjoyed the company of the members and staff. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Cox, a grandson, Keith Phelps, by 2 nephews she helped raise: Ray Clayton and Robert (Junior) Arnold, and by 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survivors include 3 granddaughters and their husbands: Lesia Hay, Marsha and Tim Fry, and
Teri and Ronnie Holder, all of Jonesboro;
9 great grandsons and 2 great, great grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Matt Smith officiating and the eulogy delivered by Kim Pegg. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include grandsons Bret Holder, Nick Hay, Blake Holder, Tyler Fry, Bryan Holder, Logan Fry, Adam Fry and Ben Holder. Tim Fry and Ronnie Holder will be honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.
