Lawrence Ford, 79, of Goldsboro North Carolina passed from this life on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. He was born to the late J.P. and Edith Ford on December 16, 1941 in Lenna, Oklahoma. He moved to Marked tree in 1950 and graduated high school there in May 1960, and was also a member of the Army National Guard from August of 1959 until Honorably discharged in May of 1967. Lawrence spent several years in law enforcement. First as the Marshall of Wiener, then as a Poinsett county deputy sheriff and finally as a lieutenant in the Trumann Police department. He worked for Grady W. Jones co. for 10 years before retirement. Lawrence and Deloris Rose were married October 5, 1996 at Magnolia Road Baptist church, of which they were members. They later moved to Strawfloor Baptist church. Lawrence enjoyed hunting and fishing and the outdoors. Keeping Deloris happy was his greatest joy. In addition to his parents, Lawrence is preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Ford; son, Brian Roberts; and his sister, Nadine Hicks.
Survivors include his 4 sons and daughters-in-law: David Roberts (Lynn) of Pearl, Mississippi, Douglas Ford (Allie) of Norfork, Virginia, Shane Ford of Gainesville, Texas, and Brad Townsend (Katy) of Jonesboro. 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Phyllis Hendrix (Jeff) of Searcy, Michele Strommer (Bear) of Jonesboro, and Angie Trayler (Todd) of Goldsboro, North Carolina; brother, Chester Ford (Margaret); 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The visitation will be held on Monday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Emerson Funeral Home with Don Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Keith Roberts, Ronnie Rinehart, Jacob Ford, Brad Townsend, Wesley Painter, and Forestt Greeno.
