Lawrence Frank Bauer

September 14, 1942 — December 22, 2008

Lawrence “Larry” Frank Bauer died on December 22, 2008 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center after a long term illness. He was the son of the late Al “Cotton” Bauer and Rosalie Metzler Bauer. Larry was a life long resident of Jonesboro, Arkansas. He graduated from Jonesboro High School and Arkansas State University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He received a commission in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant and retired from the Army Reserves as a Captain. While in active service, Larry was awarded The Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service and several other military awards and commendations.

Larry worked as Vice President and General Manager for Lynn Greene Enterprises for 33 years. He supervised all of the Big Star supermarkets and Quick Shops in Jonesboro, Paragould and Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. He served on the United Way Board and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Larry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kay Osment Bauer, his sister Linda Bauer (Mrs. Joe) Jenkins of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and three nieces and two nephews.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008 in Emerson Memorial Chapel followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Johnny Hutchinson officiating. Emerson Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements. A private burial service will be held with Reverend Robert Norvell officiating.

Those wishing to leave a lasting memorial, please consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Northeast Arkansas Humane Society or the Jonesboro Public Library.
