Lavonne “Bonnie” Guy, 89, of Lake City passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Lakeside Nursing Center.
She was born in Oxford, Kansas November 10, 1927 to the late Irvin and Ona Holland Smith.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband J.C.”Jack” Guy; Brother, Maurice Ray Smith and grandson Aiden Smith.
She is survived by 4 children: Geneiva Carroll Malone (Dewaine) of Lake City, AR, Shirley Dianne Shirey (Robert) of Kile, TX, Robert Carl Guy (Jill) and David Lynn Guy (Kathy) of Jonesboro, AR and 8 grandchildren: Michelle Renee Throesch (Mathew) of Pocahontas, AR, Kimberly Smith of Lockhart, TX, Bryan Roberts of San Antonio, TX, Jeremy Guy, Brittany Ruiz (Osmar), and Amber Warren of Jonesboro, AR and 5 great grandchildren: Keelen Smith of TX, Zane, Gavin and Jillian Warren of Jonesboro, AR and Madison Throesch of Pocahontas, AR.
Our Mother was talented in so many fields. She retired from ST. Bernard’s Medical Center as a baker. Bonnie made porcelain dolls with Marion Westlake and hand made their clothes. She and our father built homes for 25 years. Bonnie took Art Classes at Arkansas State for Senior Citizens and Floral Arranging. She got her GED October 12, 1992. Bonnie wanted to learn more about the bible. She attended Nettleton United Methodist Church. Bonnie took courses at The Arkansas Area School of Christian Missions. She became the Lay Speaker for The United Methodist Church. Bonnie was on several church boards. She loved quilting and was in the Nettleton United Methodist Church Quilting Group for years. When she moved to Lake City from Jonesboro she was asked to start a quilting group at Lake City United Methodist Church. Bonnie worked with United Methodist Church Summer Camp till in her 70’s. She loved gardening, crocheting, sewing, cooking, painting and numerous crafts.
Bonnie was a long time member of United Methodist Women of NE Arkansas and their President for 2 years until she retired due to health concerns.

Funeral service will be Friday, June 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service.
