Lavonda Bernice Wiest

Lavonda Bernice Wiest, 76, of Brookland, died Wednesday, April 16 at NEA Baptist Hospital. She was born in Sedgwick, Arkansas on September 19, 1931 to Mr. & Mrs. Jeff and Mae Lamb Lawson. Lavonda has resided in Brookland for the last seventeen years. Lavonda was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Linda Marie, five brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Wiest was a member of the Pine Log United Methodist Church in Brookland and a past member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and a homemaker.

Mrs. Wiest is survived by her loving husband of forty seven years, Robert Wiest, of the home; two sons, Glen Hale of Jonesboro and Robert J. Wiest and his wife Robin of Machesney Park, IL;
four daughters, Mozelle Carlson of Jonesboro, Sheyanne Uschan and her husband Robert of Machesney Park, IL., Peggy Walters and her husband Wes of Beloit, WI and Rhonda Hathcoat and her husband Rick of Brookland; two brothers, J.C. Lawson of Camden, TN and Richard Lawson of Walnut Ridge; three sisters, Vera Smith of Chouteau, OK, Virginia Greenslate, and Peggy Jones both of Olive Branch, MS; 13 grandchildren; Angela Enna of Cassville, WI, Joseph Enna of South Beloit, ILL, Carrie Adams of Brookland, Tara Gatlin of Louisville, KY., Amy Schaaf of Beloit, WI, Leah Schindler of Beloit, WI., Zachary Hale of South Carolina, Lindy Baker of St. Louis, MO., Tiffany Hathcoat of Brookland, Kyle Hathcoat of Brookland, Heather Hathcoat of Brookland, Robbie Wiest of Machesney Park, ILL. Crystal Bachman of Las Vegas, NV. and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Soward and Rev. Patty Soward officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Joe Enna, Kyle Hathcoat, Robbie Wiest, Duane Greenslate, Daniel Greenslate, and Adam Creecy.

The men of Pine Log United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
