Lavinda Counce

Lavinda Counce, 90, of Bay, died July 3, 2015, near Bay.

Lavinda was born and raised in Bay and lived 5 years in Michigan before returning to Bay where she lived the rest of her life. She and her husband, D.A. Counce owned and operated Counce's Market in Bay for many years. Lavinda was a long-time member of the Bay Church of Christ where she was active in the Ladies Group and Tuesday Bible study.

Lavinda was active in the NEA Wellness Center Silver Sneaker Program where she was the 2014 recipient of the "Swanson Inspiration Award" for the region. She was an active member of the Bay Senior Citizen Center and was a avid fan of the Bay Yellowjackets and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Lavinda was preceded in death by her husband, D.A. Counce; son, Dennis Counce; parents: Corbitt and Hattie Story Lamberson; sister, Juanita Lamberson Kelley; and 2 brothers: Edward Lamberson and Eugene Lamberson.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Patsy Scott (Lannie) of Jonesboro, and Paula Thomas (Freddie) of Williford;

3 grandchildren: Brian Percell (Amy) of Crossville, Tennessee, Carrie Collins (Brett) of Jonesboro, and Daniel Thomas (Carrie) of Bay;
6 great grandchildren: Tyler Collins (Emily), Grant Collins, Hunter Percell, Cade Percell, Chloe Thomas and Jake Thomas; and
1 step great granddaughter, Sabrina Cranford.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Mark Brewer and Marvin Rickett officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include Donnie Davis, Tim Isbell, Verlon Spencer, Derrick Mink, Henry Rogers and Kenny Vestal. Honorary pallbearers include members of the NEA Wellness Center Silver Sneaker Program, and members of Lavinda's Bay Senior Citizens Center Group.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
