Laura Burns

February 8, 1936 — June 18, 2012

Laura Grizzard Burns, 76, of Jonesboro, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born in Harriman, Tennessee, Laura lived in Memphis before moving to Jonesboro in 1968. She was a medical technologist and homemaker and was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church of Jonesboro. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Irwin “Griz” and Bonnie Adkisson Grizzard.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Dr. Richard G. Burns of the home;

3 sons and their wives, Richard G., Jr. and Ann Burns of Charlottesville, Virginia,
Dr. Robert B. and Betty Burns of Pascagoula, Mississippi, and
Timothy I. Burns of Rockport, Maine;

1 brother, Tom Grizzard of Harriman, Tennessee;
1 sister, Rebecca Sorrels of Cleveland, Tennessee; and

4 grandchildren: Caroline Burns, Robin Burns, Jake Burns and Alex Burns.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 12:00 noon at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 1910 Disciple Drive in Jonesboro. The body will be cremated.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
