Larry Gene “Sprout” Busch, 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Jonesboro on June 26, 2026. Larry was born in Memphis, TN, on December 31, 1954, to the late Leeroy Busch and Virginia Colbert. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Busch, and his significant other of 17 years, Barbie Weeks.
Larry was raised in Jonesboro but lived all over, from Colorado to Louisiana and Oklahoma, and eventually returned to Arkansas. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. At the right time of year, you would always find him in his deer stand. Outside of hunting season, Larry would spend his leisure time on Norfork Lake in a pontoon boat or at his favorite hangout, the Moose Lodge. He was a family man who worked hard for his loved ones. Larry spent 20 years in the family business, Colbert Family Concrete; 15 years as a roofer; and, most recently, 21 years with Ecolab. He was a master fumigator with Ecolab and was proud of the master-level certifications he earned there. Most importantly, Larry loved his family. Time spent sharing his love of snacks and the outdoors with his family, especially his grandchildren, filled his heart with unconditional happiness. Larry will be greatly missed by family, friends, and loved ones alike.
Larry is survived by his daughters, LaTisha Gilmore (Kyle) of Jonesboro and Melynde Richardson (Chad) of San Antonio, TX; his brother, Mike Busch (Belinda), of Bono; his step-brother, Walter Colbert, of Jonesboro; his step-sisters, Phyllis Colbert, Ruby Crow, and Nancy Blackwell, all of Jonesboro; his grandchildren, Julia, Candace, and Kingsley; his childhood friend, Ronnie Bruce (Karen), of Monette; and his best friend and soulmate, Laveena “Mouse” Adams, of Jonesboro.
A memorial service will be held at Emerson Funeral Home on June 28, 2026, at 1:00 pm. A visitation will precede the service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Burial will be private.
