Larry H. Pitman, 85, of Brookland passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born March 19, 1935 in Little Rock to the late Herbert and Katherine Pitman. Larry was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church. He retired from the Extension Service after 34 years. Larry was the area livestock specialist. He also received a distinguished service award. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, team roping, farming and raising cattle. He was very active in the community and was in several clubs and associations. Those include the County Agents Association, Alfa Gamma Rho, Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association, 4-H member and leader, Craighead County Mounted Patrol and the ROTC Airforce program while in school.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Pitman, son, David Allan Pitman and brother in law, Dr. Jerry Morris.
Survivors include his 5 sons: Carter (Paul) Pitman of St. Louis, Paul (Maria) Pitman of New York, Tony (Cindy) Elmore of Jonesboro, John (Kathy) Pitman of Kansas City and J.J. (Heahter) Pitman of Little Rock; sister, Marilyn Morris of Cotter; 11 grandchildren: Josh Pitman, Leah Pitman, Alexander Pitman, Naomi Pitman, Zane Pitman, Sydney Elmore, Tessa Pitman, Arynne Pitman, Zoe Pitman, Dean Elmore, Dylan Pitman and 3 great grandchildren, Chloe Pitman, Addison Pitman, Wesley Pitman and beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
All other services will be private.
