Dr. Larry Dwayne McNamara, 85, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away on December 18, 2025. Born February 3, 1940, in Hartford, Arkansas, Larry grew up in a coal-mining family and learned the value of hard work early in life.

A master printer turned optometrist, Larry earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston and practiced for 45 years in Trumann, Harrisburg, and Jonesboro, where he was known for his kindness and dedication to patients.

Larry loved travel, adventure, the arts, and rescuing dogs, but was best known for his quick wit, warm humor, and generous spirit. He took great joy in making others laugh and was deeply proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments.

He is survived by his wife Tommye McNamara, children Terri McNamara Holt (Ron), Stephen McNamara (Lucy), and Timothy D. McNamara (Camille); grandchildren Elia McNamara, Timothy Austin McNamara (Katheryn), Charlie McNamara, and Maggie McNamara Hau (Greg), and great grandchild Alazander "Zander" McNamara of Harrisburg Ar.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Myrtle McNamara; siblings Jim, Charles “Bud,” Allyn “Al” McNamara, and Amarylis McNamara Whitehouse; and granddaughter Cady Jordan McNamara.
