Larry Eugene Edgar – born June 15, 1945 to Waymon T. Edgar and Audrey “Marvelle” Merril Edgar. Larry passed away in his home November 23, 2021. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Larry enjoyed scouting in his youth and graduated from Jonesboro High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Arkansas State University. He served in the United States army for three years and attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Larry served for twenty years in the United States Army Reserve and retired from a thirty-year career in federal law enforcement on September 30, 1997. His career took him and his family all over the United States, where he served as a criminal investigator with Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Defense Criminal Investigative Services, and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Larry is survived by his wife Carolyn Stone Edgar of Jonesboro and his children, Whitney Edgar Fraley of Jonesboro and son-in-law Joseph Daniel Fraley of Batesville; son Daniel Edgar of Jonesboro; grandchildren Erica Frances Fraley of Boulder, Colorado and Kayden Beau Edgar of Jonesboro; brother Garry Edgar and sister-in-law Susan Richardson Edgar of Boston, Massachusetts; brother Steven Edgar of Jonesboro; nephew Shannon Edgar of Los Angeles, California; niece Ashley Edgar Al-Bazi of Chicago, Illinois; aunt Sarah Merril Standley and uncle Frank Standley of Houston, Texas; cousin Christopher Standley of Houston, Texas; aunt Doris Merril of Jonesboro and cousin Ronald Merril of Jonesboro. Throughout his life, Larry also enjoyed his large extended family through Carolyn. Larry loved the outdoors, cooking, folk and country western music, books, TV westerns and old sitcoms. He had a great sense of humor and will be remembered fondly by family and friends.
