Larry Donald “Doodle” Emison, 79, of Jonesboro, died February 7, 2022, at St. Bernards Medical Center. Larry was born on February 7, 1943, in Caraway to William Ray and Annette Emison. He was a 1961 graduate of Caraway Central High School. In 1961 he competed in the Arkansas High School Rodeo where he won the title of All-Around Champion. He served most of his working career at the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years, and the last 8 were as Sheriff. For his entertainment, he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and horse racing. He was a charter member of Old Carter Camp in Hamburg, Arkansas. Watching professional football games was a weekly occurrence. Any Razorback sport was always watched by Doodle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Eddie Emison, and Ben Emison; his in-laws, Harlen and Bettie Little.
Survivors include the love of his life, and his wife of 21 years, Sharon Emison of the home; son, Larry Todd Emison and wife Wendey of Mountain Home; daughter, CarolAnne Sacry of Row, Washington; grandchildren, T. J. Emison of Jonesboro; Cooper Liles of Mountain Home; Bryon Sacry; Az Annie Cora Sacry both of Montana.
Funeral services will be 2:00 Friday, February 11, 2022, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Don Blackmore officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park with Tony Austin, Robert Jones, Steve Fowler, Jason Sitz, Mike Emison and Bradley Wallace serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time.
