Larry Junior Byrd

Larry Byrd, 75, of Cherokee Village passed from this life on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Manila to Junior and Ruth Byrd on September 12, 1947.

Larry was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He loved fishing, dancing, working in the yard, watching sports, crossword puzzles, listening to his daughter sing and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He worked as an EMT for Emerson for years. Larry proudly served his country for almost 8 years before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Byrd; mother, Ruth Bunch Riggs and father Junior Byrd; grandson, Malachi and sister, Sherry.

Larry is survived by three brothers, Jerry Byrd of Texas, Mike (Michelle) Byrd of Texas and Mickey (Carol) Byrd of Jonesboro; sister, Faye Turner of Jonesboro; daughters, Crystal (James) Mays of Manila, April Travis of Jonesboro, Melissa Johnson of Jonesboro and Cindy(Rickey) Davis of Cherokee Village; three sons, Chris Byrd of Walnut Ridge, Harry Johnson of Jonesboro, and Joseph(Micah) Johnson of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Sadie, Autumn, Chelse, Cambron (Brittany), Angel, Ambria, Haven, Tommy, Payton, McKagen, Jaxson and Evelyn; great grandchildren, Brent, Isiah and Aaliyah; his first wife, Betty Byrd and a special friend, Dorothy Bennett.

A visitation will be held Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 9-10 am at Emerson Funeral Home.

A memorial service will follow the visitation at 10 am with military honors. Burial will be private.
