Lanier Moore, 75, of Valley View, died Sunday, December 6, 2009, at St. Bernard's Medical Center. He had lived in Valley View since 1970, moving there from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and was a member for over 30 years at the Christian Valley Christian Church.
Mr. Moore graduated from Marked Tree in 1952, served in the US Navy from 1952 – 1956 aboard the destroyer USS James C. Owens. As a graduate from Arkansas State University with his BSE he was a coach and a science teacher at Walnut Ridge High School and he also coached football at McArthur Junior High School. Lanier was an Arkansas State Trooper and he received his MSE from ASU and in 1971 became the principal for Valley View High School and the Elementary School until his retirement. After retirement he drove a Blazer school bus for 9 years. He was a Master Mason and was a 32D Scottish Rite Mason.
Surviving Mr. Moore is his wife of 52 years, Carol Kay Moore, of the home; son, Paul Kevin Moore and wife Jennifer, Valley View; Courtney Kay Clements and husband Derek, Pocahontas, Arkansas; three sisters, Cara McNair, Memphis Tennessee; Virginia Elman, Southhaven Mississippi; and Willie Duncan, Hayti, Missouri; three grandchildren, Louise Mae Moore, Emily Kay Moore and Chloe Marie Moore.
Funeral services will be 10:00 Thursday at Christian Valley Christian Church with Roger Meadows and Pat James officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Bob Miller, Steve Struble, Radius Baker, Stan Salmons, Terry Presley, and Randil May. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 Wednesday night at Emerson Funeral Home.
