IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lana
Norton
July 7, 1945 – December 16, 2025
Lana Lee Norton, 80, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
She was born on July 7, 1945, in Oak Park, Illinois, to the late Haynes and Charlotte Dozier. Lana was an exquisite seamstress and a fantastic knitter who often created her own designs and patterns for clothing. Her creativity, patience, and attention to detail were evident in everything she made, and she took great joy in using her talents to serve and care for those she loved.
In addition to honoring Lana’s life, the family also wishes to recognize and honor her late husband, James Byron Norton, who played an extraordinary and lasting role in her life. James was born on March 3, 1945, and passed away on December 10, 2023. He devoted 33 years to education as the band director at Holmes Junior High School in Mount Prospect, Illinois. Following his retirement, James enjoyed collecting and driving his beloved Corvettes.
Lana and James were high school sweethearts, having been together since the age of 17. They were married on August 22, 1966, and shared a life devoted to one another until James’ passing in 2023. They were truly each other’s world, living daily with a spirit of love, service, and deep devotion.
Lana is survived by her daughters, Leslie Anne Norton of Palatine, Illinois, and Jennifer Norton of Jonesboro.
