In Loving Memory of Ladene Katherine “Kathy” Mangrum (1950–2025)

It is with deep love and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Ladene Katherine Mangrum at the age of 74. Born on August 9, 1950, in Corcoran, California to Guy Burton II and Ladene Terry, Kathy graced this world with warmth, kindness, and a spirit of generosity that touched everyone around her.

Kathy’s life was a testament to the power of love and selflessness. On September 1, 1973, she joined in marriage with James Robert Joel, and together they built a beautiful family. As a devoted wife and nurturing mother, Kathy raised four wonderful sons—Joel Chadric "Chad," Joel Shawn, Dustin Arthur, and Jonathan Christopher—with boundless love, care, and support. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, each of whom were blessed by her endless generosity and the warmth of her caring nature.

Known for giving freely of herself, Kathy was always there to ensure that others had what they needed. Her passion for crafting and gardening brought beauty not only to her home but also to the lives of those who had the pleasure of sharing in her creativity and kindness. Whether tending to her garden or engaging in her craft projects, she shared her talents with those around her, leaving lasting impressions on her friends and loved ones.

Kathy leaves behind her sister-in-law and sister at heart, Barbara Mangrum and Portia Marshall; her beloved sons, Chad Mangrum, Shawn (Jessica) Mangrum, Dustin (Erin) Mangrum, and Chris (Diana) Mangrum; as well as her cherished grandchildren. Each of these lives was touched by her nurturing love, and they will continue to honor her legacy every day.

Kathy’s gentle spirit, steadfast values, and commitment to family will be dearly missed. As we celebrate her life, we remember a woman whose nurturing love and compassionate heart made the world a better place for all who knew her. Her memory will forever inspire us to live with the same generosity and grace that she so effortlessly embodied.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro, AR at 10:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Rock Hill Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. where Kathy will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Joel Mangrum, where their love will remain united for eternity. ­
