Kyle David Rees, age 39, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018. The son of David Rees and Jane Rees, Kyle was born and spent the majority of his life in Jonesboro. He loved the Miami Hurricanes, John 3:16, and his dog Cocoa, with whom he is now reunited in heaven. But his first love was the game of basketball. Known for his consistent three-point shot, Kyle played basketball for Jonesboro High School, Southeast Missouri State University, and the University of Central Arkansas. An avid fan of all sports, he often impressed friends and family with his encyclopedic knowledge of sports trivia. Kyle was also known for his long entertaining stories. He occasionally treated some lucky spectators to a spontaneous rap, with commentary about everyday life or with testimony to his relationship with Christ. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
Kyle is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Roy Jolly and his paternal grandparents: Harold and Thelma Rees.
Kyle is survived by his parents: mother, Jane Rees and father, David Rees both of Jonesboro; his maternal grandmother: Marian Jolly; his two sisters: Julie Frumin (Michael Frumin) of Agoura Hills, CA and Mallory Rees (Beau Carucci) of Los Angeles, CA; nephew: Ryan Frumin; and niece: Elyse Frumin.
A visitation will be held from 12-1 pm Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at First Baptist Church, followed by a memorial service at 1pm with Brother Bruce Venable officiating.
Burial will be private.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in his memory to John 3:16 Ministries, 75 Holmes Road, Charlotte, AR 72522 and to First Baptist Church.
