Kenneth J. Waymon Sr., 90, of Jonesboro took his first breath in heaven Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City. He was born September 1, 1930 in Pocahontas to the late James Waymon and Opal Waymon.
Kenneth has lived in the Jonesboro area most of his life and was a member of Central Baptist Church where he was very active in the church’s mission work. He retired from G.E. after 35 years and helped build the G.E. plant here in Jonesboro. Kenneth enjoyed woodworking and carpentry as well as hunting and fishing with his loving wife. He also loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his stepson, Alan Howell; brother, Ernest Waymon and sister Glenda Lemons.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Waymon of the home; son, Kenneth (Kathie) Waymon Jr. of Jonesboro; daughters, Karen Howell of Fayetteville and Donna (Glenn) French of Jonesboro; sisters, Freda Koons and Geneva Waymon both of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Jeremy Waymon, Derek Waymon, Karla Enderle, Casey Howell, Nathan Carter and Jake French as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of life will be held at Emerson Funeral Home with burial following at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Jeremy Waymon, Derek Waymon, Casey Howell, Nathan Carter, Hayden Carter and Jake French. Honorary pallbearers include Keith Waymon, Rick Carter, The Staff of St. Bernards Village, Lakeside Nursing Home and the Wisdom Seekers Sunday School Class.
