Kenneth Joe Burns

October 7, 1928 — December 25, 2014

Kenneth Joe Burns, 86, of rural Walnut Ridge, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014, at his home of natural causes.

Born near Melbourne in Izard County, Joe lived most of his life in Lawrence County. He was a farmer and a carpenter and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. In his younger days Joe enjoyed playing baseball and hunting.

Joe especially enjoyed target shooting with his daughter and grandchildren. He liked to take care of animals in need, specifically strayed and neglected animals which needed care. Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Albert and Amie Rice Burns.

Survivors include his daughter, Angie (Ronnie) Foster of Jonesboro;
2 brothers: Ernest (Audine) Burns of Pocahontas and Glenden (Billie J.) Burns of Jonesboro;
2 grandchildren: Josh (Charity) Foster and Ashlee Foster, all of Jonesboro;
1 great granddaughter, Kinsley Foster of Jonesboro, and
Several nephews and nieces.

Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Joe's nephew, Richard Burns, delivering the eulogy. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers include Josh Foster, Cameron Wofford, Alex Burns, Barry Burns, Tim Burns and Jonathan Bobbitt.

There will be no visitation.
