Kay Copher Gardner

Kay Copher Gardner, 54, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born in Newport, Kay lived in Ohio before moving to Jonesboro in 1983. She earned a bachelor degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and a master degree from Arkansas State University. She was a math teacher at Brookland Junior High School and taught at Nettleton Junior High school before moving to Brookland a few years ago.

Kay was a member of Brookland Church of Christ and was an avid reader. She enjoyed collecting and trading Laurel Burch cats and was a cat owner. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Marlin (Marty) Gardner of the home.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday afternoon, December 7, 2010, at 3:30 in the Brookland Church of Christ building, 9664 Hwy. 49B, north of Brookland, with John Mark Wilson officiating. Burial will be private.

Honorary pallbearers include faculty members, staff and administration of Brookland Junior High School.

Visitation will follow the service at the church.
