Kathleen Louise Cox

Kathleen Louise Cox, 98, of Bono passed from this life Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born to the late Luther and Grace Barnes on July 4, 1919 in Bono. Kathleen spent her entire life residing in Bono while being a long time member of Trinity Church where she was involved in the Intercessory prayer group and a women’s bible study. She was a Bono High school graduate and graduated from Arkansas State University. Kathleen started her teaching career at the age of 19 and taught for 33 years. She was a member of a bowling and camping club. Most of all she loved to travel in her later years.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Mitchell Cox; sisters: Wanda Lee Barnes, Margaret Ann Barnes, and Patty Sue McGowan; and son: Gary Wayne Cox.

Kathleen is survived by her son: Jimmy Wayne (Sue) Cox of Bono; daughter: Patricia Ann (Roy) Milner of Bono; Brother: Ralph Barnes of Jonesboro; four grandchildren: Pamela Elaine Wood, Troy (Cara) Cox, Kimberlee (Craig) Johnson, and Kerry Mitchell (Stacey) Milner ; eleven great grand children: Mackenzi Wood, Tyler Wood, Madison Cox, Whitley Cox, Cameron Cox, Jenny (Justin) Baggs, Drake Cullum, Christian Cullum, Kailey Milner, Braidyn Milner, and Macy Milner; two great great grandchildren: Elliot Spears and Judah Baggs.

A visitation will be from 2-4 pm Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be 10 am Monday, January 22 at Emerson Funeral Home with Matt Smith and Chad Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bono with active pallbearers being: Troy Cox Cameron Cox, Tyler Wood, Craig Johnson, Drake Cullum, Christian Cullum, and Randell Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will include: Don Cox Jr., Lewis Cravens, Ronald Coleman, Gary Smith, Norman Leonard, Dr. Brannon Treece, Tristian McGowan, Jerry Edgar, Benny Edgar, and Mike Edgar.
