Katherine Sutton

Katherine Sutton, 89, of Jonesboro, departed this life Saturday at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.

She was born June 12, 1922, in Dutton, Alabama to James and Emma Hughes. Katherine graduated from Valley View High School and Jonesboro Business College. She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church. On July 27, 1952, she married Robert H. Sutton. Their family grew to include two sons and three daughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Sutton; a daughter, Vanetta Lynn Sutton; parents James and Emma Hughes; a sister Edna Davis; and a brother Donald Hughes.

She is survived by her brother, Doyle Hughes and wife Eva of Palm Bay, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Hill of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Joy Coleman of Jonesboro; two sons, James Hurst and wife Susan of Kingsport, Tenn. and Robert Sutton, Jr. and wife Janet of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Debra Sutton of Denver and Karen Sutton-Ross of Louisville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Paige Hurst, Patrick and Jonathan Sweet, Jordan, Andrew and Sam Ross, and Paul, Emma, Ellen, Simon and Benjamin Sutton; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be held at Emerson Memorial Chapel at 10am on Wednesday July 13 with Pastor Mike Martin officiating. The Visitation will be from 5-7pm Tuesday, July 12 at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
