TO VIEW MEMORIAL TRIBUTE

Katherine Estelle (Higdon) Metcalf, 91, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Katherine was born in Athens, Alabama on January 30, 1927, to the late William Walter and Mary Jane Kirkland Higdon. Estelle lived in Jonesboro and retired from 21 years of employment with St. Bernard’s Hospital in 1990. She was of the Baptist faith and member of Spruce Street Church. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Metcalf, 3 sons, Samuel Buford (Buddy) Mitchell, Ricky Don Mitchell, and Steven Lee Mitchell. Daughter, Amanda Janie Shopher and granddaughter, Misty Michelle Bobbitt.

Survived by her sons, Tim Mitchell (Randy McGuire) of Hot Springs, Ar.

Jimmy Mitchell of Mountain Home, Roger Dale Mitchell of Jonesboro and Rickey Lee Metcalf (Pam) of Brookland.

Daughters, Joy Faye Stevens (Jerry) of Altus, Oklahoma, Nett Bobbitt, Carolyn Johnson, Kathy Barber, and April Mitchell all of Jonesboro.

Sister, Flo Heath (Bobby) of Jonesboro.

33 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018, in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dale Davis and Chad White officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Log Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be held from 3-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at Emerson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Barber, David Johnson, Hunter Metcalf, Paul Brooks, Buddy Mitchell, and David McQuay.

The South Ridge General Baptist Church will be providing a meal for the family and friends after the service.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials are made to the South Ridge General Baptist Church, 3301 Colony Drive, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401.
