Katherine E. “Betty” Cross, 90, of Scottsdale, Arizona, would like to announce her change of address, effective February 19, 2007. To reach her, please remember her while watering plants.
Betty Cross was born in Bloomfield , Indiana on May 9, 1916 to A.W. McLaughlin and Bessie Stone McLaughlin. She received a B.S./R.N. degree from Indiana University, worked as one of the earliest stewardesses for American Airlines, accompanying Clark Gable and Carole Lombard to the movie premiere of Gone with the Wind and assisting in the opening ceremonies for a number of airports throughout the U.S.
Throughout her life, she worked as a private duty nurse, co-owner of the Bloomfield Woolen Mill, and in retail sales (antiques, Indian art and jewelry), She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and Tri-Kappa social sororities, President of the Greene County Crippled Children, and a member of the Indiana County Welfare Board. Local volunteer work included Hospice of the Valley and Desert Botanical Gardens . She is pre-deceased by her husband, Robert A. Cross, and her sister Margo Marmon.
Survivors include daughters Criss Cross Lacewell, Margo Cross Altevogt, Kate Cross and Connie Cross; a nephew and four grandchildren. In lieu of services, Betty asks you to take time and enjoy your friends and family.
