Karen Lovan Small

Karen Lovan Small, née Taylor, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the age of 69.

Karen was born on July 18, 1956, in Wilson to Charlie Taylor and Thelma Taylor, née Marshall. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a treasured friend to many.

On April 1, 1972, Karen married the love of her life, Bobby Small Sr., in Rockford, Illinois. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion, sharing 54 wonderful years of marriage.

Karen found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She loved gardening, canning, crafting, and thrifting, always finding beauty and purpose in everything she touched. Her home was often filled with the warmth of family, the scent of something homemade, and the comfort of her caring spirit. More than anything, Karen cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her retirement years were especially joyful as she devoted herself to loving and supporting the family she adored so deeply.

Karen is survived by her beloved husband, Bobby Small Sr.; her children, Bobby Jr. and partner Tricia, Joni and husband Michael, and Jami and husband Anthony; her grandchildren, Dakotah, Faith, Ryen, Harrison, Dylan, Christopher, and Jessica; and her great-grandchildren, Lukan, Ashten, Bexley, Everley, Liam, Oaklee, Tobi, Edward, and Remington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Thelma Taylor.

Karen’s love for her family was the center of her life. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her strength, her creativity, and the way she made everyone around her feel loved and welcome. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she gave will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Celebration of life will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Emerson Funeral Home starting at 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
