Karen Gail (McFann) Rickman, 62, of Bono, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018 at her home. She was born March 3, 1956 in Mammoth Spring to the late Hutch Crisler McFann and Julia Leu Rhoades McFann.

Karen was valedictorian of Couch School Class of 1974, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Harding University in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in education, and obtained a master’s degree from ASU in 1980 for School Counseling. She started her teaching in Mammoth Spring, after finishing her degrees. Karen was married in June of 1984. She started working at Westside School District in August of 1984. She was an elementary school counselor from 1985 to the time of her passing. She helped many people working as the Westside Elementary School Counselor.

Karen has been a member of the Church of Christ Since an early age. At her passing she was a faithful and active member of the Valley View Church of Christ. Karen was a faithful Christian wife, mother, and grandmother (Nana) who was loved by many. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and following the adventures of her children. She was creative and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was always as supportive as she possibly could have been of her children. Karen was our dressmaker for shows, our decorating buddy, our biggest fan for life, and painting party cohort.

To her children she was a friend, a confidant, a source of wisdom, a listening ear, someone to laugh with, and a constant beacon of support and love. She showed us what it meant to be unconditionally loved. Karen made each child feel special and valued in their own way. She had a strength, perseverance, and tenacity for life. She will be deeply missed.

Karen is survived by her husband, David Rickman and three children Daniel Rickman and his wife Jessica Rickman, Kari Rickman and Katelin Rickman all of Bono; her brother, Keith McFann and his wife Connie McFann of Myrtle, Missouri and her granddaughter Arianne Rickman.

Funeral service will be Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Church of Christ with Spencer Furby officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel.
