Karen Jan Sullivan, 74, of Bono, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born on November 2, 1950, in Jonesboro to Payton Ryan Watkins and Jewell Puckett Watkins.
Jan grew up in Bono and was a devoted member of the Bono Church of Christ. She was a teacher at Westside and later taught at Crowley’s Ridge College in Paragould. Her love of reading and teaching literature made an impact on countless students throughout the years.
Jan was a talented seamstress and made beautiful clothes for herself and her family. She loved music and singing, especially at church. Above all else, Jan enjoyed spending time with her family and those she loved.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Sam Sullivan of the home; beloved sons, Andrew (Maggie) Sullivan of Bono and Adam (Elizabeth) Sullivan of Little Rock; grandson, Rory Sullivan; and her brother, Roger (Sylvia) Watkins.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family asks donations please be made to the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House at 1148 E Matthews Ave., Jonesboro, AR 72401.
A private visitation will be held for family members on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Emerson Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bono at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
