Karen Kathaleen Dunavant, age 70, of Jonesboro, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, July 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 17, 1953, in Newport, she was the cherished daughter of the late Vernon and Ina Mae Walker.
Karen was a beacon of dedication and compassion, contributing over 20 years of service to St. Bernards Medical Center in the Admissions department, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and professionalism. Her career path then led her to the ASU Childhood Development Center, where she devoted 15 years nurturing and educating young minds, leaving an indelible mark on the community.
A woman of many passions, Karen found joy in the great outdoors. She loved hunting, fishing, and camping, and spent many serene hours observing the birds and squirrels, finding peace and contentment in nature’s simple pleasures. Above all, Karen’s greatest love was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Karen’s legacy of love and kindness continues through her surviving family: her devoted husband of 49 years, David Dunavant of Jonesboro; her beloved son, Marvin Dunavant (Amanda) of Jonesboro; her dear daughters, Mandy Wiley (Kevin) of Williford and Kara Money (Jeff) of Memphis; and her loving sisters, Teresa Soden (Allen) of Waldenburg and Sharon Williams (David) of Grubbs. She also leaves behind nine adoring grandchildren who were the light of her life, along with a host of other family and friends who will deeply miss her presence.
Preceded in death by her brother, Kenny Walker, Karen’s memory will forever be a blessing to those who knew and loved her.
In keeping with her wishes, all services will be private.
