Justin Charles Mitchell, 44, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Monday, December 18, 2023 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 17, 1979, his parents are Steve and Jenny Mitchell of Jonesboro. Justin was a member of the First Methodist Church in Jonesboro where he found comfort and life long connections within its walls. He was a graduate of Jonesboro High School where he was an honor student and a member of the golf team and varsity basketball team for three years.   He attended the University of Arkansas where he was a member of the fraternity Phi Delta Theta and graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. For most of his working career Justin was involved in the restaurant industry, spending the last few years as a consultant for various restaurant chains.

Justin was an avid golfer and in his younger and school aged years won quite a few trophies. His love for the outdoors extended to hunting and fishing, where he found peace and joy in nature. Beyond his hobbies, Justin was an exceptional cook, finding great joy in the kitchen and sharing meals with friends and family. However, above all his accomplishments and endeavors, Justin's greatest joy came from being a loving father to his children.

Justin is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles (Tony) and Bernice Mitchell; and maternal grandparents, Mona and Grover Freeman, all of Jonesboro.

In addition to his parents, Justin is survived by his son, Wesley Mitchell of West Plains; daughters, Charlotte and Georgia Mitchell of West Plains, and Carmen Mitchell of North Carolina; sister, Kristin Beegle (Mark) of Florida; aunts and uncles, Pat and John Houghey of Jonesboro, Brenda and Mike Mitchell of Jonesboro, Pat and Billy Younce of Texas, and Claudia and Ken Regan of Montana. Justin also leaves behind a host of cousins, other family and friends to mourn his loss.

A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Emerson Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Matt Knight officiating. Burial will be private.
