June Dixon Horne

June Dixon Horne, age 78, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

June lived a life defined by faith, service, and love. A devoted member of Cathedral Baptist Church, her faith guided the way she cared for others and the way she lived each day.

She dedicated 36 years to the Valley View School District, her alma mater, where she faithfully served as teacher, school counselor, and assistant principal. Throughout her career, she was mentor, encourager, and advocate for countless students, families, and follow educators. Her influence reached far beyond the classroom, and her legacy will continue to be felt by many who life she touched. A former colleague recently remarked, "I learned so much by simply watching June. The way she loved and served others challenged all of us to become not only better educators, but better human beings."

She embraced life with determination and curiosity. An avid walker and runner, she proudly completed several half marathons demonstrating the perseverance that characterized every aspect of her life. She also loved travel and treasured opportunities to explore the world, including memorable trips abroad that broadened her perspective and life with adventure.

When she was not serving others or traveling, she found joy in reading, always eager to learn something new or become immersed in a good book.

More than any accomplishment, however, the greatest treasure was her family. She loved them deeply and unconditionally and nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her three grandchildren, Hunter, Clayton, and Carly, who brought endless joy to her life.

Those who knew June will remember her as selfless, considerate, and generous. She consistently placed the needs of others before her own, offered quiet acts of kindness without seeking recognition, and gave of herself freely. Her gentle spirit, unwavering support, and compassionate heart will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

She is survived by her son Chance Horne (Jenni), daughter Hannah Driskell (Rob), sisters Annette Carr (Jerry), Diane Pierce (Gaylon), Traci Cole (Myron), and brother Nolan Dixon (Sandy), one sister-in-law Carolyn Dixon, and numerous nieces, nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father W.M. Dixon, mother Florene Dixon, husband Gary Horne, and brother Randy Dixon.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel, followed by graveside services on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at McDaniel Cemetery in Jonesboro.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort knowing that her life was one of purpose, faith, and extraordinary love. Her example of kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to inspire all who knew her. She leaves behind legacy that will live in the hearts of her family, former students, and colleagues for generations to come.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice staff who provided compassionate care, comfort, and dignity during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in honor of June Horne, with heartfelt gratitude for exceptional care and kindness shown to her and our family.
