Julia Ann (Eubanks) Plunkett was born September 7th, 1966 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She left this world, surrounded by those that love her, on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carole Eubanks; her sister, Jennifer; and her niece, Alyssa Mattix. Julie was a graduate of Westside High School who completed her Bachelors and Masters in Music Education at Arkansas State and went on to be a national board certified teacher.
Survivors of Julie are her husband, Rod Plunkett; her daughters, Kelsey (Ervin) Larsen and Kirsten Plunkett (Brandon) Sims; her father, Glenn Eubanks; her sister, Renee Eubanks; her brother, Jacob (Heather) Eubanks; and her nephew and niece, Eli Eubanks and Hailey Wooten.
Julie was an educator of 30 years, spending her career in the Westside and Jonesboro School Districts before retiring in 2020. During that time, she touched many lives and inspired several young musicians and readers. She spent her time and resources to make sure that every student at her school had access to books and always tried to make the library a safe space for her students. After retiring, Julie enjoyed time with her family, reading in book clubs with her friends, painting, and experimenting with her bread maker. She was an amazing cook, always baking things to share with others. She could take random ingredients and turn them into something delicious. She loved getting to go on trips with her family and always planned ahead! She was a gifted flutist who participated in the Arkansas Youth Symphony, Delta Symphony Orchestra, and her church orchestra. She was born an animal lover, always trying to rescue animals when she was younger and inspired her daughters to do the same. In 2022, she got her “soul-dog”, Nugget, and it has become an ongoing joke that she took pictures any time he did anything to send to her husband and daughters. Julie was a devoted wife, an amazing mother, a trusted friend, and, most importantly, a Christian that anyone was lucky to know. She was, and will continue to be, loved by many.
