Julia Renae Jenkins, 61, passed away on Aug. 14, 2023, at her home in Jonesboro from heart failure. Born April 25, 1962, Renae lived in Parkin, AR, in her early years.
The family lived briefly in Crawfordsville and West Memphis before moving to their long-time home on Union Street in Jonesboro. She lived and worked in Texas for several years in her early 20s, then moved back to Jonesboro permanently after becoming disabled because of an injury. Renae attended East Elementary, Annie Camp Junior High, and Jonesboro High School. Fiercely independent and strong-willed despite her disability, Renae never backed down from a challenge. Born under the Taurus astrological sign, she sometimes could be quite stubborn. She was loyal to her friends and family, and was crazy about dogs.
Preceded in death by her parents, Robert David Jenkins and Mary Ann Jenkins, both of Jonesboro, she is survived by two brothers, Arthur Crick Jenkins of Springdale, AR, and Robert D. Jenkins (Kathy) of Clinton, MS; a sister, Erin Colleen Jenkins (Dana) of Fayetteville, AR; aunts, uncles and cousins; and a caregiver and family friend, Pam Hodge.
There will be no services. Her cremains will be interred at a later date.
The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to an animal shelter of your choice, or to the Crowley’s Ridge Development Council Inc., 2401 Fox Meadow Lane, Jonesboro, AR, 72403.
