Julia Margaret Edwards, longtime resident of Helena, AR and most recently Jonesboro, died Sunday, March 24, 2019 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
She was born in Greenville, MS on November 2, 1926 to the late Floyd and Lillian Henry Holland and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Carroll Russell Edwards Sr. and infant son, David Russell Edwards.
A lifelong Christian dedicated to her Heavenly Father, Margaret was a member of Second Baptist Church of West Helena and volunteered her time with the church-based hospice program.
But her most important job in life was as homemaker, taking care of her family. She is survived by her daughters Judianne Wacaster (Rusty) and Nancy Vanevery (George) of Marion as well as Carol Whitmire (Bill) and son C. Russell Edwards Jr. of Jonesboro.
Also a source of immense pride were her grandchildren, Gregory Wacaster (Audra) of Fayetteville, Andrew Wacaster (Shannon) of Millington, TN, Cara Jo Whitmire of Seattle, WA, Cory Whitmire of Jonesboro, David Edwards of Sioux Falls, SD, Amanda Edwards of Ash Flat and Autumn Edwards of Mammoth Springs, as well as give great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is survived as well by her sister, Carolyn Hess of Forrest City and preceded in death by sister Alice Stewart; brothers Raymond Holland, Eugene Holland, William Holland and Floyd Holland.
As she requested, no public service will be held. Arrangements for cremation will be handled by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Her family requests any memorials be sent to the Alzheimers Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
