Julia Ann "Judy" Belk

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Julia Ann “Judy” Green Belk at First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro on Sunday, January 4th at 3:00pm in the sanctuary. Judy passed from this life on New Year’s Day surrounded by close family and a dedicated nursing staff at Phil and Flo Jones Hospice. She was buried at a graveside service at Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge.

Born on Valentine’s Day in 1938 at Hoxie, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Herbert Eugene Green and Julia Mae Hughes Green. She is survived by her three brothers Thomas Eugene Green (Pat), James William Green (Frances), and Robert Joseph (Annie).

She received her education at Hoxie, graduating in 1955 and attended Arkansas State College in Jonesboro. Judy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro.

She and her husband Joseph David Belk II were married October 25, 1959 at Hoxie Methodist Church. Together they reared two sons, Joseph David Belk III (Susanne) and Mark Alan Belk (Jill), all of Jonesboro and two daughters Carol Ann Belk Howard (Terry) of Jonesboro and Laura Lynn Belk Wilcox (Ric) of Mountain View.

She enjoyed a career as a full-time mom and assisted with the family farm. She delighted in her 9 grandchildren: Jayson David Belk, Mark Aaron Belk, Kaitlyn Belk Middleton, Kristyn Leighann Belk, Nathan Geoffery Belk, Jamie Renee Howard, Megan Brooke Wilcox, Jordan Blake Wilcox, and Ryan Drake Wilcox.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Ben Owens and his staff at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for all the care that shown over the past several months. The family requests that memorials be made to Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, Hoxie United Methodist Church, or First United Church of Jonesboro.
