Juanita (Hensley) Keaton August 27, 1930 – January 8, 2019
Juanita was born on Denton Island near Grubbs, Arkansas in 1930. She had gone home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on January 8, 2019, at the age of 88. Juanita was a farmer’s wife in Egypt, Arkansas till 1967, and then moved to Jonesboro to work at Southern Wooden Box Company for 18 years until the plant closed.
Juanita then got her training as a CNA, where she worked until she retired at the age of 73. Juanita was of the Baptist belief, was a wonderful wife, mother of four children and loved all of us and God. In her latter years, she had Alzheimer’s but still loved gardening, canning and loved sitting in the swing with her husband. Juanita also loved taking care of the elderly and many others. She was filled with love and always looks for the good in everything and everyone.
Juanita is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jewel Jerome Keaton of 49 years, Parents, William CC, and Janie Helen Hensley. 5 children miscarriages, son, Billy Gene Keaton. Brothers, George, Howard and James Hensley. Sisters, Ester Hensley, Joyce McCormick, Daisy June Blackman, and Alice Baker. 3 grandson, Terry Waters, Joey Baker, and Michael Lynn Martin. Granddaughter, Misty Dawn Martin, Great granddaughter, Brittany Ogles, great-grandson, Dakota Keaton, son-in-laws Carl Waters, and William Baker. Daughter-in-law, Leveda (Bounds) Keaton.
Survived by her sons, Ron Keaton of Jonesboro.
Daughters, Diane Waters and Opal Baker both of Jonesboro.
7 grandchildren, Rodney Martin, Eric Keaton (Kathy), Kristal Stallings (Nathan), Juanita Laws (Danny), Kay Jackson (David) and Angela Ogles (Herbert) and 11 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019, in Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Mike Hart, officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019, in Emerson Memorial Chapel.
Pallbearers will be David Jackson, Herbert Ogles Rodney Martin, Ben Barnes, Carl Weavers and Dewayne Barker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marquette Hicks, Levi Jackson, and Danny Laws.
Very special thanks to all my praying warriors, Diane Weaver, Nettleton Baptist Church, and our precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for loving, blessing my mom, all of us, and loving and forgiving us even when we fail. Also special thanks to the Hospice Rhonda and her nurse Sue and Brenda.
