Juanita "Short" Hickman, 90, of Black Oak, died Sunday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Born in Cave City, Juanita moved to Black Oak at an early age and lived much of her life there. She was a homemaker and retired from Frolic Footwear in Monette with over 20 years of service. Juanita was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hickman, by a son-in-law, Dwight "Ike" Adams, and by 3 brothers: Leo, Don and Ken Caldwell.
Survivors include 1 son and daughter-in-law: Tony and Nancy Hickman of Jonesboro;
1 daughter, Ginger Adams of Jonesboro;
1 sister, Verneil Allen of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma;
6 grandchildren: Tammy Griffin, Amy Metcalf, Mark Hickman, Matt Hickman, Chett Hickman and Brett Hickman;
8 great grandchildren: Justin Griffin, Amber Metcalf, Hannah Griffin, Lily Hickman, Levi Hickman, Molly Hickman, Henry Van Hickman and Ingrid Hickman, and
1 great great grandson, Owen Griffin.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jerry Wilcox and Jerry "Chub" Qualls officiating. Burial will follow in Monette Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Ronnie Qualls, Larry Ladd, Danny Qualls, Plute Ladd, Jim Ladd and Mitchell Caldwell.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 at Emerson Funeral Home.
