Juanita Jacks Greene of Jonesboro passed away at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital on March 28, 2013 at the age of 86 and joined her Lord and her husband of 65 years on that loving day.
Mrs. Greene was born in Osceola, Arkansas, to Charley Wellington Jacks and Betty Ethel Ashley Jacks on March 12, 1927. Her family moved to Catron, Missouri where she met Lynn Allen Greene in high school in Lilbourn, Missouri, and they married on July 13, 1946. She attended Memphis School of Business and received an advanced business degree in 1943.
Mr. and Mrs. Greene with his wife moved to Jonesboro in 1952, and in 1960, Mr. Greene created Lucky Supermarket which he then developed into Lynn Greene’s Big Star and Quick Shops located in Jonesboro, Paragould, and Walnut Ridge.
Mrs. Greene was a founding member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Jonesboro, and an active member in the Jonesboro Jaycettes and Jonesboro Public School PTA for decades. Her heart and soul were devoted to the Lord, her late husband, her two children, her six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Lynn Allen Greene; by her mother, Betty Ethel Jacks; and by her father, Charley Wellington Jacks.
Survivors include daughter Dana Greene Finan of Brownsville, Tennessee, and son Stacy Greene of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Chris Finan and wife Katherine, Kelly Finan Tomlinson, Kristin Greene Reed and husband Todd, Ashley Greene Keller and husband Kelsey, Casey Greene, and Jodi Greene White and husband Logan; eight great-grandchildren: Hunter Finan, Gavin Finan, Chase Finan, Greer Tomlinson, Molly Keller, Tucker Reed, Jackson White, and Konner Keller; cousin Mrs. Barbara Ross and family; cousin Ira Gene Ashley and family; and Ruth McCauley and family.
Services in celebration of Mrs. Greene’s life will occur on Monday, April 1, 2013 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro with public visitation beginning at 12:30 P.M. and funeral service at 2 o’clock P.M. Internment will take place at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Michael Finan, Chris Finan, Casey Greene, Todd Reed, Kelsey Keller, and Logan White. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Ray Hall, Drs. Michael and Julie Isaacson, Aaryn Spurlock, Emily Adair, Joyce Files, Danna Barkley, the staff of the Internal Medicine Department of the NEA Baptist Clinic and the entire third floor of the NEA Baptist Hospital with special loving thanks to Emily Spencer and Felicia Cranford.
