Jq Thomas (Jake) Miller of Craighead County, AR, passed away at his home of natural causes on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the age of 87.
Jake was born September 24, 1924, in Prairie County, AR. He graduated from Hazen High School, Hazen, AR. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corp and fought in the “Forgotten Theater” ; China, Burma and India. He flew the “Hump” as a radio operator.
Jake received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering from Pacific States University in Los Angeles, California. He retired from the Bureau of Land Management in 1986. His number one priority was his family and he enjoyed getting together with them and talking about family, politics and sports. Jake was preceded in death by his wife Hallie B. Miller, and siblings Charles E. Miller, Millard S. Miller and Margaret C. Stritmatter.
Jake is survived by his sons, Murial Thomas Miller and wife Kathryn of Millington, TN, Donald C. Miller of Dallas, TX, and Duane W. Miller of Mesa, AZ; and grandchildren Khan Miller and wife Corrie of Nashville, TN, Robert Miller of Memphis, TN, Surry Flores and husband Ross of Bryan, TX, E.J. Miller and wife Shanna of Sacramento, CA, and Jacy Miller of Sacramento, CA; and great grandchildren, Jonathan Flores, Zoee Flores, Guyger Flores, Leah Miller, Kayte Miller, Sarah Miller, Bennett Miller and Carter Miller and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
An entombment service will be held Friday morning, April 13, at 10:00 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The memorial service will be held Saturday, April 21 at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel.
