Joyce Vivian Busby

Joyce Vivian Busby, 68, of Jonesboro, died Friday at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Joyce lived in Doniphan, Missouri, before moving to Jonesboro in 1973. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years. Joyce was a teacher in the AWANA program and was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday school class.

Joyce enjoyed sewing, pottery and crafts and was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest and Gladys Emery Gobel; one sister, Lilly Stanfill and a granddaughter, Andrea Joyce Jacks.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Walter Busby of the home, married February 10, 1962;

3 sons: Donnie (Susan) Busby and Walter D. (Paula) Busby all of Jonesboro and Duane (Amber) Busby of Brookland;

2 daughters: Teri Busby and Tina (Mark) Ballard all of Jonesboro;

2 brothers: Don Gobel of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Earl Gobel of Jonesboro;

1 sister, Darlene (J.R.) Putman of Benton;

12 grandchildren: Brandi (Jeremiah) Sanders, Donald II (Brittney) Busby, Daniel (Tiffany) Busby, Tera Jacks, Holly Busby, Michael Lafarlett, Jody Lafarlett, Jayden Ballard, Faith Busby, Callie Busby, Payton Busby and Samuel Busby;

10 great grandchildren: Riley Lumpkin, Kylar Lumpkin, Rowan Sanders, Donald Busby III, Flynn Busby, Thea Davis, Zariyah Busby, Jamiyah Watkins, Jude Lafarlett and Conner Lafarlett.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m.at Grace Missionary Baptist Church, 3930 Aggie Rd, Jonesboro, with Bro. Adrian Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Donnie Busby II, Daniel Busby, Michael Lafarlett, Jody Lafarlett, Riley Lumpkin and Jeremiah Sanders.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the Missionary Baptist Student Fellowship at Arkansas State University.
