Joyce A. (Mosier) Sullins of Bono entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the age of 87 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born on August 28, 1935, to Clara Marie Roach and Elzie “Pete” Mosier at home in Hoxie, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jerry Lee Sullins whom she married on January 3, 1955. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a very special grandson, Timothy Brent Sullins, and two brothers, Bob Mosier, Paragould, Arkansas and Jim Mosier, Hoxie, Arkansas.
She is survived by her children Lynette (Carroll) Thetford of Jonesboro, Jerry Brent Sullins of Bono, and Lana (Al) Williams of Paragould, six grandchildren, Greg (Autumn) Thetford, Carri (Jonathan) Baker, Kelli (Lynn) Murray, Ashley (Nick) Weaver, Alan Williams, and Andrea (Brady) Higgins. She has 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Terry (Carolyn) Mosier of Heber Springs, Arkansas.
Ms. Sullins graduated as the salutatorian of Hoxie High School in the class of 1953. Shortly after graduation, Joyce joined Bell Telephone Company in Walnut Ridge where she worked until she transferred to Flint, Michigan. She boarded a train in Walnut Ridge bound for Flint, Michigan, where she joined Jerry Lee Sullins. After the birth of their first child in 1956, they returned to Arkansas.
A life-long, faithful member of God’s family, she attended Sedgwick and Bono Churches of Christ. She loved to teach the children, especially her own and the teenage class at Sedgwick. Her greatest hope was to live eternally in heaven with her family and friends. She was an earthly angel to many, leading others to Christ and being the example for all to follow. Ms. Sullins is described in Proverbs 31, truly a blessed child of God.
Ms. Sullins retired from Westside High School in 1995. While there, she worked as the secretary to the principal, secretary to the superintendent and later the bookkeeper, touching the lives of many students and fellow co-workers. She was responsible for moving the books from paper to computer.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 17, 2023 at 1:00 at Bono Church of Christ with visitation at 12:00. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery near Bono.
Those serving as pallbearers are Greg Thetford, Alan Williams, Brady Higgins, Lynn Murray, Mark Mosier, Greg Mosier, Jackson Baker, Brett Baker, and Lawson Murray.
